Getting Started with Heretical Deadlock

System Requirements

Before you begin, make sure your system meets the minimum requirements:

  • Operating system: Windows 10 or Windows 11, 64-bit only
  • RAM: 4 GB minimum (8 GB recommended)
  • Deadlock: installed and updated through Steam
  • Privileges: administrator access for the first run (the tool needs elevated permissions to read game memory)

Heretical runs alongside Deadlock with minimal resource usage. It does not modify any game files and does not require specific GPU hardware beyond what Deadlock itself needs.

Download and Install

After purchasing a subscription through the store, you'll get access to the download dashboard. The process is straightforward:

  • Log in to your account and navigate to the downloads section
  • Download the latest release archive
  • Extract the contents to any folder on your system — your desktop, a dedicated tools folder, wherever is convenient

There is no installer. The tool is a single executable with a configuration file. Extract and run — that's it.

First Run

Launch Deadlock through Steam and wait until you're in the main menu or in a match. Then:

  • Right-click the Heretical executable and select Run as administrator
  • The tool automatically detects the Deadlock process
  • It scans for current memory offsets — this takes a few seconds on first launch
  • Once scanning completes, the ESP overlay appears and the aimbot is ready

The offset scan runs every time you launch. This is what keeps the tool working after game updates — it finds the current memory layout automatically rather than relying on hardcoded addresses that break with each patch.

Configuration

All settings live in settings.dat, a plain INI file in the same folder as the executable. You can edit it with any text editor. Changes take effect after restarting the tool.

Common settings you might want to adjust:

  • aim_smooth — controls how aggressively the aimbot moves toward targets. Higher values are smoother and more subtle. Default is tuned for a natural look.
  • aim_fov — the field of view cone in which the aimbot will acquire targets. Smaller values only lock onto enemies near your crosshair.
  • esp_boxes — toggle bounding boxes on enemies. Options include full box, corners only, or off.
  • esp_health — show health bars alongside enemy bounding boxes.
  • radar_enabled — toggle the minimap radar overlay that shows enemy positions with hero identification.
  • aim_key — the key or mouse button that activates aiming. Default is right mouse button (aim-down-sights).

The full list of settings and their accepted values is documented in the dashboard after purchase.

Troubleshooting

Most issues have simple fixes. Here are the common ones:

  • "Game not found" — Deadlock must be running before you launch Heretical. Start Deadlock through Steam, wait until you reach the main menu, then launch the tool.
  • Overlay not visible — check that your Windows display scaling is set to 100%, or that the tool is set to match your scaling. Also verify you're running in borderless windowed or windowed mode — fullscreen exclusive can block external overlays.
  • Offset scan failed — this usually means Deadlock just received a major update that changed the memory layout significantly. Restart the tool to trigger a fresh scan. If the scan fails repeatedly, check for a tool update in the dashboard.
  • "Access denied" — you need to run as administrator. Right-click the executable and select Run as administrator, or set it to always run elevated in the file properties.
  • Low FPS overlay — the overlay is lightweight, but if you notice frame drops, try reducing the ESP update rate in settings.dat or disabling features you don't use (item tracking, distance labels).
